Most of us have some secret hangover cure, even if we’re careful not to need it very often. Large disgusting hamburgers frequently make the list, as does quieter fare like fourteen pounds of Salteene crackers and a bottle of aspirin.
But a new booze-busting solution may become the new superhero of hangover treatments, even if it does make your pee smell funny.
We’re talking, of course, about asparagus.
According to an article published December 2012 in Medical News Today, asparagus actually helps the body metabolize alcohol. The article cites a study published in the Journal of Food Science, which showed that “asparagus extract contains amino acids and minerals that may cure an alcohol hangover and help keep liver cells safe from toxins.”
