A fascinating article in Time takes a detailed look a how pharmaceutical drugs often do far more harm than good, especially when prescribed by doctors who spend mere minutes with their patients before prescribing a host of chemical treatments.
The article, by Daniel Williams, looks at several case studies. One is Rebekah Beddoe, who in 1999 was diagnosed with postnatal depression. She spent the three subsequent years ingesting a host of prescribed pills, all of which only worsened her condition. She began cutting herself and even attempted suicide.
Her doctors’ response was always to up the dosage. Her body’s response was she only got worse.
Then, one day, Beddoe took a drastic measure: She stopped taking the pills.
